Anesthesiology - Full Time Teaching Faculty Anesthesiologist

Full/Part Time Status:Position Description:The University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia is seeking qualified anesthesiologists with interest and expertise in a variety of clinical areas to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity academic medical center, contribute to perioperative planning, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care. Appointments may be full-time or part-time, consistent with departmental needs and operational priorities. Faculty members also participate in teaching residents, fellows, SRNAs, and medical students, with opportunities for academic involvement through lectures, conferences, and scholarly activity. The Department of Anesthesia is seeking faculty members for appointment on an open faculty track at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, depending on qualifications. Other/Fixed Term (Non-Track) appointments may also be considered.

Participating in team-based anesthesia care and personally providing anesthesia care

• Serving as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating for effective patient outcomes.
• Active participation in the academic activities of the Department and College of Medicine.
• Supervising students, residents, fellows, SRNA’s and non-anesthesia rotators.
• Providing developmental feedback to those under supervision, verbally and in writing.
• Preparing educational materials, leading and/or attending academic lectures and professional development events.
• For faculty appointed on the clinical track, instructional track, or in a fixed‑term appointment, research activities are encouraged but not required for continued employment or promotion.

Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved residency program in anesthesiology.

• Candidates must be board-certified in Anesthesiology (or non-US Board equivalent) or be in the certification process (pending completion of residency or fellowship). Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience in any of the subspecialty areas.
• Interest in teaching and/or basic or clinical research.
