The Healthcare Surveyor (Home and Community-Based Services Waiver Programs) will: Ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) receive safe quality services as required by their individualized service plans;
Assess service quality;
Ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements;
Analyze data;
Conduct on-site interviews;
The Healthcare Surveyor (HCBS Waiver Programs) is responsible for: Participating as a Team Lead or Team Member in assigned surveys, including required Statewide travel;
Routine compliance survey preparation, survey participation, and completing formal reports of findings;
Coordinating and communicating logistical information regarding the survey to team members, and providing leadership to the survey team through clear and concise information;
Possessing skills in gathering, interpreting and analyzing data and making informed decisions to determine compliance status;
Completing all required Health Care Authority (HCA), Division of Health Improvement (DHI) and Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) trainings, including Quality Management Bureau (QMB) core surveying competency training;
Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers of QMB and DHI.
Who are the customers? Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD);
Quality Management Bureau (QMB), which works in close coordination with other divisions and bureaus within the Health Care Authority (HCA);
The community at large.
Experience with Medicaid Waivers (Developmental Disabilities, Mi Via, and Medically Fragile);
Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities;
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading with attention to detail;
Proficiency with standard computer systems and equipment;
Experience gathering data, interpreting and analyzing the data and making informed decisions based on evidence gathered;
Excellent customer service to internal and external customers;
Ability to travel as needed.

Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation, and/or Criminal Justice and two (2) years directly related experience in community based healthcare services and case management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Work is performed in an office setting and in the field at community program sites. Out-of-state travel for training, and extensive statewide, with the occasional overnight travel is required. Bargaining Unit Position
