Referral Marketing Specialist – Northern California

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Referral Marketing Specialist for a direct-hire opportunity supporting the San Francisco and Napa-Sonoma markets . This field-based position is responsible for driving referral growth by developing and maintaining relationships with dentists, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, and other healthcare referral partners throughout the territory.

The Referral Marketing Specialist will represent approximately 5–6 practices and their providers , independently managing territory routes, provider visits, follow-up activities, relationship development, and referral-growth initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of field sales, territory sales, outside sales, business development, field marketing, or similar relationship-driven experience . This role is best suited for a self-motivated, hands-on professional who enjoys being in the field, building relationships, executing established strategies, and delivering measurable territory growth.

Previous medical, dental, orthodontic, or healthcare experience is a plus but is not required .

Build and maintain strong relationships with dentists, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, and other referral partners throughout the assigned territory.

Execute established sales, marketing, and referral-growth strategies for each supported practice.

Identify and develop new referral relationships while strengthening and expanding existing partnerships.

Conduct regular in-person provider visits, lunch-and-learns, educational events, and other field outreach activities.

Partner with doctors and practice teams to understand referral goals, market opportunities, and growth priorities.

Track referral activity, provider engagement, territory performance, and relationship development using CRM and reporting tools.

Monitor territory trends and identify opportunities to increase referral volume and provider engagement.

Create basic marketing materials, presentations, and leave-behinds using Canva, Adobe, or similar tools.

Coordinate field marketing activities and approved events throughout the assigned territory.

Maintain a professional presence when representing practices and providers within the community.

Perform additional sales, marketing, and referral development responsibilities as assigned.

3–5 years of experience in field sales, territory sales, outside sales, business development, field marketing, referral marketing, or a similar relationship-driven role .

Strong sales mentality with proven relationship-building and business development skills.

Experience developing new business relationships and maintaining existing accounts or referral partnerships.

Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Experience using CRM systems and basic reporting tools.

Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout San Francisco and Napa-Sonoma, CA .

Ability to attend in-person provider meetings, educational events, and other field-based activities throughout the territory.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

Previous experience in medical, dental, orthodontic, healthcare, or other provider-based environments.

Experience with healthcare referral marketing or physician/provider relationship development.

Experience supporting multiple locations, practices, or accounts within an assigned territory.

Experience using Canva, Adobe, or similar tools to create basic marketing materials and leave-behinds.

Experience planning or coordinating lunch-and-learns, provider education events, or field marketing activities.
