Substance Abuse Counselor (NS)

Provide behavioral intervention therapy related to criminal behaviors and attitudes for clients involved in the criminal justice system.

Act as an interface between mental health providers while continuing to provide substance use disorder counseling.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals on complex cases to facilitate continuity of care.

Provide case management services and aftercare planning, including referrals to community resources, maintaining up-to-date information on housing and funding sources, and managing patient expectations.

Engage in psychosocial assessment, treatment team activities, documentation, individual and group sessions, crisis intervention, and quality assurance.

Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist – Associate (LCAS‑A), or an equivalent credential recognized by the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board.

Thorough knowledge of community support groups and resources for individuals with substance use disorders.
