Summary: The Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC or CAADC) at Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula provides services to a diverse client population with substance use and addiction challenges, including individuals with co-occurring disorders and trauma histories, within a clinical setting.

Offer recommendations to maintain or enhance substance use disorder treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery programming for the agency.

Conduct intake interviews with clients, collecting biopsychosocial and spiritual information.

Provide individual and group therapy sessions to help clients meet their treatment plan objectives.

Maintain accurate client records in accordance with agency policies.

Promote the program through community education, prevention, and outreach activities as needed.

Comply with the Code of Ethics relevant to the profession, CSSUP policies, and applicable state and federal laws regarding confidentiality and client rights.

Attend relevant training and educational programs to maintain certification through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP).

Willingness to complete training to serve clients with addiction behaviors, including but not limited to gambling, pornography, or substance abuse.

experience with both mental health and addiction services is preferred.

Ability to serve as an effective role model for clients.

Sensitivity to and awareness of the cultural needs of the local community, including considerations for populations such as children, seniors, Native Americans, and others.
