Job Description Registered Nurse – Airport Public Health / Biosecurity Screening

JFK International Airport | Queens, NY

Medix is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse to support a public-health and biosecurity screening program at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) .

This is a unique opportunity for an RN who enjoys clinical assessment and patient interaction but is looking for something outside of the traditional bedside environment.

Full-Time | 40 hours/week

Schedule: Sunday–Thursday, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM

Weekly payroll

Medical, dental, and vision benefits available after 30 days

Contract expected to run through approximately July 2027

This program supports the public-health screening of international travelers entering through JFK Airport.

When a traveler presents with symptoms, medical concerns, or information requiring additional clinical evaluation, they are referred to the RN.

Conduct focused nursing assessments and secondary clinical screenings

Review presenting symptoms and relevant medical history

Determine when escalation to the onsite physician is appropriate

Communicate assessment findings clearly to physicians and other team members

Follow established public-health, infection-prevention, PPE, and biosecurity protocols

Collaborate with physicians, screening personnel, and other members of the onsite team

Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license

Approximately 2+ years of recent hands-on clinical RN experience

Comfortable interacting with a diverse international traveler population

Emergency Department / ER

S. passport is required for the federal and airport credentialing/badging process.

Onboarding & Training

Because this position supports a federal program within a secure international airport, the onboarding process is more extensive than a typical clinical assignment.

Candidates should anticipate approximately 3–4 weeks for compliance, credentialing, background requirements, airport security clearance/badging, and training.

Required onboarding, compliance, and training activities are paid at the regular hourly rate as applicable .
