Registered Nurse Hospital Pediatrics

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse - Pediatrics provides skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in a children's hospital setting, ensuring comprehensive assessment, treatment, and collaboration with the healthcare team. The role involves managing patient care with a focus on pediatric needs, maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios, and supporting unit operations including floating between units as required. Strong communication and clinical skills are essential to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for pediatric patients.

Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient responses.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and support staff.

Provide education and support to patients' families regarding care and treatment plans.

Float between pediatric units as needed to meet patient care demands.

Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with safety standards.

Participate in unit staffing and scheduling, including weekend shifts and on-call duties.

Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.

Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably with pediatric patients.

Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pediatric hospital environment.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.

Driver's license, car insurance, and automobile for field work if applicable.

Previous pediatric nursing experience.

Experience working in a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.

Familiarity with pediatric nurse-to-patient ratios (1:3-5).

On-call duties required based on unit census.

• Weekend work required, typically 5 shifts in a 6-week period.
• Floating between pediatric units as needed.
• 48-hour shifts are not approved.
• Shift assignments include weekends and on-call shifts.

Shifts determined by unit needs and hospital staffing policies.
