About the Position
Job Title: Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer
Profession: Radiology/Cardiology

Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Technician I
License: Valid State License Required
Certifications: Echocardiography CCI Required or ARMS Echo Certification Required
Must-Have:
- Completion of approved Echocardiogram Training Program
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
Description:
Operate and maintain echocardiogram equipment.
Inspect echocardiogram machine electrodes to ensure cleanliness and proper working order.
Report malfunctions immediately to the Supervisor.
Ensure machines and carts contain adequate supplies to complete assigned tasks.
Respond to STAT requests within 15 minutes.
Obtain echocardiograms as ordered and schedule patients in appropriate order.
Match patient identification to requests.
Explain procedures to patients to assure understanding and cooperation for optimal test results.
Position patients and select appropriate transducer with consideration of depth of field and organ to be identified.
Use the scanner over specified body areas, adjusting equipment for focus.
Make video copies of images as requested.
Document tests and reschedule testing if necessary due to difficulties.
Develop prints using automatic printer processing equipment.
Prepare data and files as requested and keep finished tape on the machine until the study is read by a cardiologist.
Review test results with physicians.
Log all echocardiograms performed.
Work with professional staff during procedures, maintaining sterile technique.
Maintain hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
Report any violations immediately to a supervisor.
Perform various clerical tasks within the department as needed.
Assist in cross-training other departmental staff.
Maintain department records and reports and respond to phone inquiries.
Develop and maintain a high level of customer service.
Display courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in dealings with staff, patients, and visitors.
Identify and resolve problems with equipment and recognize patient needs requiring clinical assistance.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Comply with all policies and standards.
Must possess good oral communication skills for explaining procedures and discussing results with staff.
Demonstrate organizational skills to ensure proper stocking of equipment and supplies prior to assignments.
