School Occupational Therapist Needed | Full Time Position

Position Summary Sunbelt Staffing is looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join a school district in the Columbia, South Carolina area. This full-time contract position focuses on helping students improve the functional abilities they need to engage confidently in their educational environment. The therapist will collaborate with teachers, families, and other specialists to develop practical strategies that promote independence and student participation.
Your Role Evaluate students' occupational performance and determine appropriate therapy needs
Create and implement individualized intervention plans connected to educational goals
Provide occupational therapy services in individual, small-group, or classroom settings
Address fine motor, gross motor, sensory, visual-motor, and functional skills as appropriate
Consult with classroom staff regarding accommodations and therapeutic strategies
Recommend adaptive tools or environmental modifications when beneficial
Track student progress and modify interventions based on collected data
Complete evaluations, progress reports, treatment documentation, and other required records
Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with the student\'s educational support team

Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to translate clinical recommendations into practical classroom strategies
Strong organizational and time-management abilities
Comfortable managing responsibilities independently while collaborating with a larger team
Compassionate, patient, and student-focused approach
Required Credentials Current South Carolina Occupational Therapist license
NBCOT certification
Eligibility for applicable South Carolina school-based credentials
Ability to meet district-specific onboarding and background requirements
Education Master\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
Completion of required clinical training and professional certification
Professional Experience Pediatric experience is preferred
Previous school-based OT experience is beneficial but not mandatory
Familiarity with IEPs, accommodations, and multidisciplinary teams is a plus
Newly licensed Occupational Therapists are encouraged to apply
