Associate's degree or higher is preferred (not required)Criminal BackgroundNo felony arrests or convictionsNo misdemeanor arrests or convictions in the last 6 yearsDriver's License RequirementsYou must have a valid driver's license and:No reckless driving or DWI in the last 7 yearsLicense cannot have been suspended, denied, or revoked in the past 3 yearsOther RequirementsMust pass a drug testMust be able to handle the physical demands of security work. Must be able to work in different weather/environmental conditionSuch alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities outlined below describe the general nature and level of work expected for this position. Employees in this role may be assigned additional duties as needed to support organizational objectives.Investigate school vehicle accidents involving buses or other districtInvestigate incidents and write detailed reports about whatPatrol assigned areas of the city using a cruiser to monitorHelp transport students with behavioral issues whenObserve and report unlawful or suspiciousProtect people and property from harm, theft, trespassing, fire, orHandle tense situations calmly using good judgment andRespond to service calls at all locations in the schoolMonitor bus stops to prevent problems orWatch for safety hazards, including fire risks and other securityCommunicate effectively in English, both speaking andWork with other officials on scene when incidentsAssist school-based officers with safety and securityPerform other related duties assigned byWork a rotating night shift (Monday - Friday) which includes on-call every 6-7 weeksMental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, and operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write.Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds.This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information.Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work areas, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
