The Talent & People Operations team is committed to delivering the best employee experience from the moment they join the company to the time they leave. Reporting into the Head of People, the Senior Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) will build, grow, support, and engage your client groups. As their key strategic people partner, you will work with your teams to ensure we are scaling our teams effectively while maintaining the culture and the people's experience in the workplace.
Consult with People Leaders, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the People Operations team to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of Team Members, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to People Leaders (coaching, counseling, career development, and progressive discipline).
Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
Provides guidance and input on department restructures, talent planning, and calibration.
Identifies training needs for business units and individual People Leader coaching needs.
5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a dedicated HRBP role — ideally within a consumer, retail, or DTC brand environment.
- Proven ability to operate as a standalone HR function - comfortable owning the full employee lifecycle without a team beneath you, and resourceful enough to build from the ground up.
- Deep employee relations expertise, including conducting thorough, unbiased investigations and navigating complex, sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgment.
- A track record of building and scaling people programs (performance management, manager development, engagement) in a lean, high-growth environment.
- Strong command of California employment law and HR compliance requirements; experience in a CA-headquartered or CA-majority workforce is a strong plus.
- Experience supporting both corporate and hourly/retail workforces — the ability to flex your partnership style across very different employee populations.
- A builder's mentality - you're energized by ambiguity, don't need a playbook handed to you, and take pride in creating structure where little exists.
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required; Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
May need to travel 10-30% annually.
