DISTRICT POSITION

Job Classification: Building Custodian
Location: GYM
Work Day: TBD - Varied evening Shifts (example: 8pm - 4am, 6pm - 2am)
Work Year: 12 months
Salary & Work Cond: Link to Collective Bargaining Agreement
Supervises: None
Job Goal: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Physically able to perform responsibilities.
• Good character.
• Professional appearance (uniforms provided).
• Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education or Administration finds appropriate and acceptable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Fill in positions throughout the district when coverage is needed for absences, trainings, etc.
• Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
• Shovel, plow, and sand walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.
• Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
• Clean office area, cafeteria, gym, classrooms, and faculty lounge.
• Refresh all restrooms (refill dispensers, empty trash, flush toilets, and clean mirrors).
• Keep halls and steps clean.
• Open necessary doors.
• Conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair.
• Dry and wet mop floors.
• Stock custodial closet with supplies.
• Vacuum any area rugs.
• Keep drinking fountains free of debris.
• Do minor grass cutting
• Comply with local law and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
• Fill out biweekly custodial time sheet and turn into lead custodian.
• Be on-call for the office staff for any spills or emergencies that should arise.
• Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director of Building & Grounds, lead custodian, or principal.
