Pharmacist - Full Time, Evenings - Pharmacy

The Pharmacist will be responsible for quality pharmacy services, collaborating with primary care providers and staff to improve the health of patients. The Pharmacist assures compliance with all regulations of the SC State Board of Pharmacy, and works to achieve the goals, objectives and budget established by CHC's Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team. Pharmacy services will include dispensing medications, assisting CHC personnel and patients with drug information and identification, developing and sustaining productive patient relationships, evaluating and resolving potential drug therapy problems identified through any and all available resources, patient counseling, prescription verification, adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, precepting students and interns, supervision of pharmacy technicians while on-duty, and participation in projects as assigned. Knowledge of Board of Pharmacy regulations
Ability to work with primary care providers to maximize cost effective prescribing patterns, improve clinical processes, and achieve clinical standards across the population of patients served by CHC
Proficiency in computers, including ability to learn Electronic Medical Records and pharmacy software; also use phones, fax machines, printers, scanner, and copiers
Ability to carry out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization's policies and local, state, and federal laws
Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions
Knowledge and experience of ordering, inventory, and cost management activities
Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff and patients
Ability to keep customer service and the mission of the organization in mind when interacting with clients, co-workers, and others, promoting a positive image for CHC, and fostering an ethical work environment
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with medical information and conform to HIPAA regulations
Ability to understand and respond effectively with sensitivity to special populations served by CHC. Special populations include, but are not limited to, those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, sexual orientation, economic standing, disability status, migrant, homelessness, seasonal workers, the uninsured, and patients with low health literacy.
Assign, coordinate, and oversee pharmacy technicians' tasks
Ensure that all pharmacy technicians are working in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as CHC policies
Counsel patients on drug usage, storage, side effects and drug interactions in accordance with federal and state pharmacy laws
Remove outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory
Process recalls according to policy and procedures
Keep pharmacy secured
Make sure Home/Site Delivery patients receive medications in a timely manner
Communicate with the Chief Pharmacy Officer any issues within the pharmacy
Assist with training of pharmacy staff
Assist Chief Pharmacy Officer in other duties as assigned
Directly supervised by Chief Pharmacy Officer

Pharmacy Technicians on duty

Works in cooperation with staff and effectively serves patients/customers

Current licensure by South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy
~ Work Experience:

• At least two years of retails or community health pharmacy experience preferred
• Possession of current South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy license
• Has proficient knowledge of Board of Pharmacy regulations
• Reads, speaks, understands, and writes proficiently in English
• Effectively communicates orally and in writing
• Represents the organization in a professional and effective manner to the community
• Delegates work, sets expectations, and monitors activities of pharmacy technicians appropriately
• Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a computer, telephone, copier, and medical equipment
• May be required to travel to meetings outside the organization's facility
• Required to be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Position involves exposure to patient/customer elements in a clinical setting;
• Job also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard Office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines
