About the Facility - Palo Alto VAMC
VAPAHCS is a teaching hospital associated with the Stanford University School of Medicine. It provides patient care services as well as education and research. Health care is provided in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. 1,300 University residents, interns, and students are trained annually.
VAPAHCS operates nearly 900 beds, including three nursing homes and a 100-bed homeless domiciliary serving more than 85,000 enrolled veterans.

RN - Long Term Care - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
The Registered Nurse - Long Term Care shall provide services in the long-term care division comprised of 3 long-term care units: long-term, short-stay, hospice/palliative care residents.
Shall be responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
The Registered Nurse - Long Term Care shall assess plans implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
The Registered Nurse - Long Term Care shall be responsible for patient activities of daily living, assessments, medication, administering medication and procedures per established policies and guidelines, ion administration, IV therapy, interdisciplinary team coordination, admissions, and discharges, internal and external transfers, delegating to assistive personnel, electronic medical record documentation, patient transport, and emergency response procedures.

RN - Long Term Care - REQUIREMENTS
Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the US or the District of Columbia.
A minimum of three years' direct patient care experience.
Must have Basic Life Support certification.
