A Mental Health Professional who excels in this role:

Provides therapy to assigned adult/geriatric patients per Behavioral Unit (BHU) policies, developing, and revising the treatment plan, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, establishing specific short- and long-term goals.

Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of the patient and patient representative.

Documents the psychosocial evaluation, all one to one and group activities, therapies, and case management activities in the patient(s) chart.

Documentation is accurate and meets all hospital, state and TJC requirements.

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health errors.

Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team participating in treatment team meetings evaluating and updating treatment goals and interventions.

Serves as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient protecting the patient's rights serving as a liaison between patients, referral sources, and community agencies.

Maintains clinical and regulatory processes by demonstrating theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and a working knowledge of DSM-IV.

Performs utilization review process for inpatient admissions, participating in discharge planning including coordinating patient transfers to other facilities and coordinating community resources. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, plus flexible-spending and health- savings accounts.

Master's degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology or Human Services from an accredited university.

Experience: Five years' experience working in the Mental Health Field preferred.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work within the required supervision parameters established by the Washington Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
