Part-Time Pool Lifeguard

The Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for self-motivated and high energy individuals to fill several part-time positions for their lifeguard vacancies.
Interested individuals are encouraged to apply immediately. Selection of candidates will be on a first come, first served basis. As applications are received, they will be immediately reviewed. Candidates who clearly best meet or exceed the minimum qualifications will be invited to the testing process.
This is a non-benefited, at-will part-time position with working hours to be assigned at the discretion of the Recreation & Community Services Department. Candidates must be able to work all assigned shifts, which may include mornings, afternoons, evening shifts, and/or occasional weekends. Under general supervision, the Lifeguard will ensure safe use of the pool, aquatic facility and general safety of children; supervise conduct of pool patrons; enforce swimming pool rules and respond to emergency situations as required; The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining and work safely with materials and equipment, maintain accurate files and records, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instruction utilizing the English language.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Mandarin is highly desirable.
Must be at least 16 years of age at time of submitting application; CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers
Lifeguard Training Certificate

Application materials will be screened in relation to the criteria outlined in the job announcement. Copies of the required certifications must be submitted with the application. The selection process may include a written examination, a panel interview and other testing processes designated to predict successful job performance. Candidates who are UNDER 18 years of age and enrolled in high school must obtain and submit a valid work permit prior to employment.
