Nurse (Health Care)

Overview Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a dedicated Nurse Extern to join our Spine unit within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing spine surgery and those with complex spinal conditions. As a Nurse Extern, you will assist with basic patient care such as vital signs, intake and output monitoring, hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures, while gaining exposure to spine-specific nursing care including neurovascular assessments, pain management support, and post-operative monitoring. You will collaborate closely with RNs, physicians, physical and occupational therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated care and an excellent patient and family experience.

Responsibilities Assist with basic patient care: vital signs, intake and output monitoring, hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures.

Document care accurately in the electronic health record; respond promptly to patient needs; adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols.

Maintain a clean and organized environment; assist with patient education and discharge preparation as appropriate to scope.

Collaborate with RNs, physicians, physical and occupational therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated care and a positive patient and family experience.
