The Telephone Triage Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care and clinical assessment via phone and electronic communication to patients seeking medical advice or care coordination. This role is responsible for evaluating patient symptoms, determining appropriate levels of care, providing clinical guidance based on established protocols, and ensuring timely communication and follow-up with providers and patients. Provide nursing assessment, triage, and advice to patients via telephone or electronic communication following established clinical guidelines and protocols.

Document all patient interactions, assessments, advice given, and provider communications accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Coordinate care and follow-up with clinic staff to ensure continuity and efficiency in patient care.

Educate patients on medication use, treatment plans, and self-care instructions within the scope of nursing practice.

Monitor and manage nurse triage calls and inboxes in accordance with established response time standards.

Participate in ongoing education, training, and quality assurance activities to maintain current knowledge of triage protocols and best practices.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic infection control and safety policies.

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

• Active RN license in good standing with the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alabama required.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred; experience in triage, primary care, family practice, or ambulatory setting preferred.
