The Jerr‑Dan Sales Representative is responsible for establishing and growing TEC Equipment’s Tow Truck market share through Sales for the Southern California Region. This position is a resident expert for light, and heavy‑duty Tow Trucks including but not limited to Flatbeds, Wreckers, Heavy Duty Wreckers and Rotators, etc. The Jerr‑Dan Sales Representative is an entrepreneurial minded, customer focused, and self‑motivated individual that can successfully articulate the value proposition of TEC Equipment and the brands we represent.

The person in this role must become invaluable to customers by embodying TEC Equipment’s value proposition throughout all customer interactions: TEC Equipment takes care of our customers with Convenient Access, provides Premium Products in a one‑stop shop, is able to do this because we are the largest full‑service dealership in the West, and is Committed to truly be every customer’s Best Business Partner.

Build a strong customer pipeline by understanding the customers’ business needs and providing comprehensive solutions to exceed those needs. This will require the ability to establish trusting relationships with multiple contact points within the customers’ organizations. Actively follow up with customers per commitments, provide accurate & timely information, and ensure actions are consistent and demonstrate TEC’s desire to be the customers’ best business partner.

Possess a deep understanding of customers’ usage of tow trucks as well as industry/segment norms. Act as a consultant to the customer to provide insight on the towing products that could provide efficiency and longevity. Learn Jerr‑Dan manufacturer’s spec tool and develop the expertise to configure both stock and customer specific specs.

Utilize Salesforce CRM system to capture customer information, document customer interactions, and plan/schedule follow‑up activities. Utilize Salesforce Dashboards and Reports to track achievement of cold calls, customer engagements, deliveries, etc. Regularly monitor data sources such as POLK registrations, RigDig, etc. Collaborate with team members inside and outside of the sales department for best‑practice sharing on a daily basis; build symbiotic relationships with Truck Sales, Finance, Parts, Service, and Leasing teams. Establish trusting relationship with OEM reps and utilize as necessary to facilitate sales, obtain product support and provide prompt warranty and policy support. to provide incremental value to customers.

Maintain a detailed understanding of TEC tow truck inventory and actively support fellow Jerr‑Dan Sales Reps/Managers to move aged equipment. Know the production build dates for orders, keep track of OEM backlog, and proactively participate in order planning to maintain adequate and appropriate inventory.

Know competitor inventory, monitor TruckPaper listings and understand pricing fluctuations.

Actively attend, participate, and represent TEC in local & regional industry events and Towing association events.

Support and participate in customer events.

Three years of sales experience in retail operation; preferably in commercial vehicles.

Proven history of achieving/exceeding sales and business objectives.

Strong knowledge of the truck/towing industry and equipment.

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding.

Proficient with MS Office and Dealer Management System(s).

Proficient in Salesforce or other CRM system.

Ability to travel to other TEC locations and to visit customers.

Valid driver’s license, CDL Preferred
