Early Childhood Education Teacher Full/Part-Time

PRESCHOOL TEACHER-AIDE-Infant/Toddler

To teach and to show the love of Christ to the children who attend CPC Preschool and to develop supportive relationships with their families. Do you have a passion for supporting children in their growth and development? Ability to provide educational and spiritual leadership, supporting the preschool philosophy in all practices and curriculum planning

Ability to establish working relationships with staff, children, parents, and church members

Commitment to on-going training and education, participating fully in preschool sponsored training

Education: Enrolled or willing to enroll in a course of study working toward the required 12 core units for teachers in licensed facilities. Including the Care for Infants and Toddlers. The employee understands that he/she is financially responsible for these units.

Active membership at CPC or in a Christian Church, which proclaims a doctrine in agreement with the doctrine of Community Presbyterian Church

Adequate vision, hearing, and mobility to safely supervise children

Health and Safety: Ensure that a safe and healthy environment is maintained for children including compliance with Title 22 licensing regulations, fire codes, and other applicable laws. Closely supervise the children at all times.

Preschool Statements: Work conscientiously to implement the school’s philosophy, vision, values and goals.

Curriculum Implementation: Support the teachers in implementing the curriculum, giving suggestions as requested by the teachers.

School and Personal Spiritual Development : Pray for the needs and spiritual growth of the children and their families. Make provision for one’s own spiritual life through public worship, Bible study and prayer. Actively participate in staff devotions each school day morning.

Professional Development: Keep abreast of current knowledge in early childhood education through, personal reading, in-service training, workshops conferences and/or college courses. (This includes but is not limited to CPR/First Aid Training and in-service training provided by the school.)

Develop mutual, trusting relationships with parents of the children enrolled in your class through frequent communication, showing interest and respect for the parents and their children and practicing confidentiality verbally and in writing.

· Develop mutual, trusting relationships with teachers, office staff and the Director through frequent communication, showing interest and respect and practicing confidentiality verbally and in writing, promoting team building efforts at the school.

Attendance: Attend all staff devotions and meetings, in-service training, and special events such as, but not limited to CPC teacher commissioning (this occurs on a Sunday morning at the beginning of the school year) parent orientation, school programs, open house, and end of the year celebrations.

Act as an advocate of the school with students, parents, teachers, staff, CPC congregation, as well as the community.

Relationships: The Teacher Aide, depending upon his/her assignment works with the children and staff directly, or works with the office staff directly or supports the staff in miscellaneous duties. The Teacher Aide shall communicate with other school staff members whenever necessary or helpful especially when there could be a misunderstanding, using problem solving skills.

Accountability: The Preschool Teacher Aide is accountable to the Preschool Director who will establish overall priorities and objectives with the Teacher Aide and the teachers that he/she will be working with closely. A performance review will be conducted annually with the Preschool Director.

Terms: This position is part time/full time 37.5 hours per week.
