The County of San Diego invites applications for the position of Supervising Psychiatrist
A Supervising Psychiatrist has full medical and administrative responsibility and authority for the psychiatric and other medical services of particular programs or units. The Supervising Psychiatrist provides high-level clinical leadership, reviews complex cases, offers real-time consultation to psychiatric providers, provides direct client care, and ensures compliance with a growing number of regulatory requirements and expanded State oversight. Positions are located in Behavioral Health Services direct and/or administrative locations.
Board Certified Psychiatrist
Has experience in providing care to adults with Serious mental illness, including co-occurring conditions
Has significant administrative/managerial experience
Is flexible and has a collaborative approach in working with a multidisciplinary team
Is able to oversee and provide direct service coverage at multiple sites/locations
Has an interest in innovation to provide the highest quality services

Pre-employment Medical Screening: Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California;

• Graduation from a U.S. accredited medical or osteopathic school or certified foreign studies equivalency equivalent to a Doctor of Medicine (M.or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.Note: Possession of an ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Graduates) certificate may substitute for the certified foreign studies equivalency.
• Three (3) years of post residency psychiatry experience at the level of Psychiatrist or higher with responsibility for conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing, and treating of patients under direct care/supervision and/or patients with mental and emotional disorders, with at least one (1) year of experience directly supervising staff Psychiatrist and/or other licensed medical or mental health professionals.

Note: For positions that supervise units working with children, candidate must additionally be a graduate of a fully accredited Child Psychiatry Fellowship.
