Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Campus Operations is a major unit in the Administration and Finance Division of ECU with approximately 500 employees and annual budget in excess of $30 million. The Campus Operations organization includes Facilities Engineering & Architectural Services, Facilities Services, and Housekeeping Services. Campus Operations is responsible for the support of all University real property including buildings, infrastructure, and grounds. Responsibilities on the University's Main, Health Sciences, West Research Campuses, and satellite locations associated with ECU programs include major and minor renovations and construction; corrective and preventive maintenance and repairs by utilities services (controls, electrical, HVAC, life safety, plumbing, central steam and chilled water operations), building services (carpentry, locksmith, masonry, paint, roofing), automotive services; maintenance of grounds by grounds services, recycling, refuse removal, sustainability; moving services and housekeeping services support of academic, administrative, athletic, classroom, clinical, dining, laboratory, library, performing arts, and residence life spaces.
Inspect, test, maintain, and repair all electrical generation, distribution and utilization equipment on the Health Sciences and West Research Campuses, to include but not limited to: electrical transmission and distribution conductors, raceways, switches, transformers, sectionalizing switches, switch gear, switch boards, panel boards, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, generators, automatic transfer switches, generators, uninterruptable power supplies, lighting control systems, lighting contactors, lighting fixtures, egress lighting/signage, fire detection & notification systems, power monitoring/metering systems, security access systems, and public address systems; Establish, implement, and conduct preventative maintenance programs that meet or exceed all OEM recommendations and the recommendations of NFPA 70B; Continually review issues pertaining to the electrical distribution system and utilization equipment to maximize reliability and minimize impact to building occupants. High school diploma or equivalency; Considerable knowledge of commercial/industrial electrical systems, applicable codes, and experience reading blueprints and schematics.
Experience with addressable fire alarm systems; Current North Carolina Electrical Contractor's License, a NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level 1 or 2 certification, a NICET Special Hazards Systems Level 1 certification, or a NICET Electrical PowerTesting Level 1 certification
