Job Description Our Austin office is seeking an experienced Attorney specializing in Complex Litigation and Appeals to represent clients throughout the State of Texas.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as first chair counsel at trial and on appeal in both Texas state and federal courts.
Provide strategic legal advice and consultation to attorneys within the firm and clients statewide regarding litigation and appellate strategy, discovery, pleadings, legal arguments, and evidentiary matters.
Develop and implement effective litigation strategies to protect clients’ interests and achieve favorable outcomes.
Advise the firm and clients on risk management and litigation avoidance, including best practices, policies, and procedures designed to minimize potential third-party claims and legal exposure.
Analyze complex legal issues and provide practical recommendations regarding potential and ongoing litigation.
Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive strategies for complex disputes and appeals.
Ideal Candidate:
Strong experience handling complex litigation and appellate matters.
Proven ability to serve as first chair in significant state and federal court matters.
Excellent legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills.
Strong understanding of Texas state and federal court procedures and rules of evidence.
Ability to independently manage complex cases while effectively advising clients and colleagues.
Excellent judgment, communication, and strategic problem-solving abilities.
Requirements:
JD from an ABA approved school
Civil appellate experience
Must be licensed and in good standing in Texas
Must be eligible to be admitted to all federal courts in Texas
Texas delinquent tax background preferred but not required
Minimum 5 years of experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to engage with clients and local associations beneficial to client interests
Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Spanish-speaking a plus
