Highway engineering

GFT is currently seeking a Highway Engineer to join our Eastern PA Highway Team. The successful candidate will be focused on project delivery and be proficient with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation design and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission policies, standards, and specifications. The candidate will serve as a highway project/task engineer for highway projects. The candidate will work with highway team members to deliver quality projects and develop client relationships through project delivery.
The successful candidate will be articulate with a professional presence and solid decision-making, planning and organizational skills. A general understanding of how to manage/monitor scopes, schedules and budgets on projects is desirable.
Perform engineering design tasks for highway projects from preliminary to final design and develop construction contract documents including plans, specifications, cost and estimates.
Establish working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers especially in PennDOT, local governments, and private clients
Mentor and supervise junior engineers in developing transportation construction plans, including but not limited to cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans
Collaborate with Eastern Pennsylvania Highway staff to deliver projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
Prior experience with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects preferred including being well versed in client design policies, standards and specifications.
Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads or V8i design software required.
Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Professional Engineering (PE) License registered in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain within 6 months is preferred.
~5-10 years’ progressive engineering experience in highway design preferred.
