Chemist (Remote)

Under direction of the Chief Engineer I, the Chemist works as the Laboratory Director, and performs a variety of responsible professional and complex chemistry work within the Water Quality Laboratory (WQL) of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). The Laboratory Director is responsible for all analytical and operational activities of the laboratory, indirect supervision of all personnel employed by the laboratory, and the accuracy and quality of all data reported by the laboratory. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position. Please indicate on application if you are applying for Training and Development.

Possession of a Bachelor's or advanced degree with a major in chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, or a closely related chemistry discipline from a recognized institution. (Registration as a senior in a recognized institution will admit applicants to the examination, but they must produce evidence of a degree before they can be considered eligible for appointment.)
Possession of a Bachelor's or advanced degree with a major in a scientific discipline from a recognized institution with a total of 18 semester units in general chemistry, quantitative analysis, and organic chemistry with related laboratories. (Two years professional experience performing duties as a chemist, as defined in the scope of this specification, may be substituted for the required coursework.) (Registration as a senior in a recognized institution will admit applicants to the examination, but they must produce evidence of a degree before they can be considered eligible for appointment.)
NOTE: Equivalent to graduation from college refers to a Bachelor's degree. Applicants must have the number of semester or quarter credits, as well as the required coursework necessary to be awarded a four year Bachelor's degree.
