Custodian PositionLake Forest School District 67 is seeking a 12-month Custodian. The Custodian provides custodial services to ensure safe, healthy and enjoyable spaces for all District 67 students, staff, and visitors. Starting rate: $18.46/hour to $20.06/hour. Benefits include insurance - medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance are available. Leaves - paid sick, personal, holiday, and vacation days provided. Pension - the district and employee contribute to IMRF.Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentMust possess a valid driver's licenseCustodial experience - requiredCustodial experience in a K-12 environment - preferredAbility to respond to provided training and maintain the training providedMust be able to initiate action without direct supervisionCompetencies:Strong verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills and positive problem solving attitudeComfortable and pleasant demeanor in busy environmentsAbility to work under pressure, work with speed, attention to detail, consistency, and organizationAbility to work harmoniously, cooperatively, and effectively with all stakeholdersAbility to meet deadlinesAdhere to Board of Education policies and proceduresEssential Functions:Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, and refinishes floors; cleans, dusts and polishes furniture; washes windows and walls; cleans restrooms; disposes of rubbish, changes lights, etc.; makes certain all areas of the building are kept in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition according to industry and/or district standardsDelivers (with district vehicle) mail, food, and supplies to all district buildingsProvides transportation for district employees to and from train depotPicks up litter within the schools and on school groundsCleans the cafeteria after student lunches or eventsPerforms event set up, tear down and clean upAssures safety during inclement weather by shoveling, salting, snowblowing and providing slip protection on wet floorsApplies cleaning products according to established safety proceduresAdheres to safety measures for cleaning, lifting, moving, and operating equipmentPerforms minor repair and maintenance as authorized by Maintenance SupervisorRemoves extraneous dirt/markings from interior and exterior vertical/horizontal surfaces (walls, doors, etc.)Advises Custodial and Maintenance Supervisor on matters relating to mechanical equipment and/or building maintenancePerforms minor painting to walls, rails, playgrounds and other areas of the schoolKeeps all equipment in a good state of repair and cleanlinessPerforms miscellaneous landscaping projectsAssists in setups and takedowns for building eventsDelivers district mail twice daily as assignedPerforms other job related duties as assigned by the direct supervisorPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, grasp, feel, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift.Repetitive motions are required.The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Elevated work on ladders and aerial lifts is also required.Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and is subject to loud noises, heat, cold, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gasses, chemicals and hazards associated with moving mechanical parts and vehicles.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
