Summary: The Respiratory Therapist provides care by order of a physician or through protocols approved by the Medical Staff to patients with heart and lung ailments such as cardiac failure, asthma, pulmonary edema, emphysema, COPD, cerebral thrombosis, drowning, hemorrhage, shock, respiratory distress, and post-op life support. The Respiratory Therapist helps in restoring adequate ventilation and cardiopulmonary function to patients suffering from cardiopulmonary arrest. Respiratory therapists are also responsible for monitoring patients and their responses to therapy being administered. By use of protocols the therapist modifies and or discontinues the patient’s therapy plan as appropriate. The therapists also provide education to patients, their families and other co-workers as needed. Must meet per diem requirements set by management.

Completion of NBRC RRT or CRT credentialing required.

Knowledge of basic respiratory therapy modalities and management of ventilators.
