Practice Model: Predominantly outpatient.
Call Responsibilities
When on call, pediatricians are expected to come to the hospital if an OB requests assistance with a complicated delivery or C-section .
Pediatricians are not expected to attend every C-section.
The Emergency Department may occasionally request pediatric assistance for pediatric patients.
Inpatient / Hospital Care
The average daily census (ADC) is less than 0.2 , resulting in minimal inpatient volume.
Pediatricians are responsible for stabilizing critically ill children until the transport team arrives.
Patients requiring a higher level of care (e.g., NICU patients, insulin drips, or other critically ill children) are transferred to tertiary centers in Madison, Milwaukee, or Rockford .
The nursing staff is experienced with patient stabilization and transport protocols and is considered very competent.
After-Hours Coverage
~ After-hours calls are initially screened through a nurse triage service , helping to minimize unnecessary physician call.
