Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit
Location
Overland Park, KS
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
Shift: 7A - 7P. Self-scheduling to include 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
Job Description
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients with moderate physiological instability. The RN will work within a team-oriented environment, delivering supportive care for patients with conditions such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and tracheostomy management. This unit specializes in cardiac and pulmonary monitoring and management.
Responsibilities
Monitor cardiac and respiratory status of patients, performing assessments every 2-4 hours.
Administer oxygen therapy and other needed interventions.
Maintain accurate documentation in the Meditech system.
Conduct vital signs assessments and blood glucose monitoring every 4 hours.
Perform neurological monitoring as needed using NIHSS scale.
Collaborate with health care team members to optimize patient care.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Must possess valid RN license.
ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
Experience in a telemetry or pulmonary step-down environment is preferred.
Knowledge of coronary care and respiratory management principles.
