Buyer - Manufacturing and Supply Chain Purchasing

Procurement Specialist
Makes recommendations to the Purchasing and Materials Manager in purchasing all required materials and finished parts from domestic and international suppliers to support manufacturing.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

Interact with manufacturing and production planning to ensure the necessary materials are received when needed to support production.
Manage quote requests and purchase orders using MRP system as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Work with various departments in addition to suppliers to identify opportunities for cost savings, maximize on time delivery, minimize inventory and help resolve quality issues.
Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships; fully understand supplier capabilities and limitations.
Develop and implement computerized procurement records including items purchased, costs, delivery, product quality and performance.
Ability to manage delivery gaps and expedite needed material to minimize supply interruptions.
Seamless transition of material between suppliers and manufacturing locations.
Support and contribute to the development and implementation of group commodity team strategies.
Develop and implement vendor and purchase order files.
Conform with the organizations ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education and/or Experience:

~4 year college degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Finance; or one to three years purchasing / production planning experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

~ Proficiency in order processing, inventory, manufacturing and database software (MRP/ERP such as JDE or equivalent); possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and email.

Reasoning Ability

Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving in a dynamic purchasing environment.
Applies logical thinking and creativity to resolve routine procurement challenges and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Shows persistence and resourcefulness when navigating unfamiliar systems, suppliers, or processes.
Follows through on assigned tasks and inquiries with attention to detail, ensuring timely completion and clear communication with stakeholders.
