Responsibilities Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
Assesses the patient and plans care within set timeframes and documents findings according to policies
Oversees and supervises the shift
Demonstrates leadership through duties that may include delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, meal supervision, etc.
Oversees staff to ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered by self and all members of the team
Monitors patient for change of condition and responds accordingly, up to and including notification of the physician
Follows hospital policy for medication administration
Consistently uses empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients
Delivers quality nursing care to ensure that goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies
Assists or performs comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients
Qualifications Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision; must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Associate’s degree in nursing required.
Current Registered Nurse license as required by state regulations in which the facility operates.
Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred; experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
CPR certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
De‑escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
