This position is responsible for providing high-quality patient care while traveling to various healthcare facilities and patient residences throughout the assigned territory. The Staff Ultrasound Technologist is expected to work independently while maintaining effective communication with dispatch, supervisors, clients, and fellow team members. This role requires professionalism, adaptability, safe vehicle operation, and a commitment to BioTech X-ray's "Patient-First People" philosophy.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPrimary ResponsibilitiesPerform portable diagnostic ultrasound and Doppler examinations as assigned in accordance with physician orders and company protocols.Position patients appropriately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.Travel safely and efficiently to multiple healthcare facilities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and patient residences throughout the workday.Upload ultrasound images into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) promptly following exam completion.Communicate with interpreting physicians as needed to facilitate timely interpretation and reporting.When dispatch is unavailable, communicate summary report information to client facilities and fax hard-copy reports as required.Complete assigned exams efficiently while providing exceptional customer service.Maintain company property, including vehicles, communication devices, ultrasound equipment, and supplies.Perform routine inspections of vehicles and equipment and promptly report maintenance or repair needs.Ensure company vehicles remain clean, organized, and all equipment is properly secured for safe transport.Customer ServiceUphold BioTech X-ray's "Patient-First People" philosophy.Provide exceptional service to patients, facility staff, physicians, and clients.Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, supervisors, facility personnel, physicians, and coworkers.Quality and ComplianceFollow all applicable federal, state, and company regulations.Follow infection prevention and safety standards at all times.Participate in competency reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities.Assist with mentoring and training new sonographers when requested.Ensure accuracy, quality, and attention to detail in all examinations and documentation.Exercise sound clinical judgment when adapting to varying patient conditions while maintaining examination quality.Current Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and Abdominal certification.PreferredAdditional specialty ultrasound certifications.Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.Experience performing vascular ultrasound examinations.PreferredExperience in portable ultrasound.Experience providing services in long-term care or mobile imaging environments.Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules, travel routes, weather conditions, and facility environments.Excellent customer service skills.Must successfully pass a background screening and comply with the company's drug-free workplace policy.Core Competencies (Individual Contributor)Accountability, Communication, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Adaptability, Quality and Accuracy, Problem Solving, Continuous LearningWorking ConditionsHealthcare facilities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and patient residences.Frequent interaction with patients, physicians, facility staff, clients, and coworkers.Use of portable ultrasound equipment, computers, mobile devices, and communication systems.Requires frequent operation of company vehicles throughout the workday.Regular exposure to varying weather and driving conditions while traveling between client locations.Physical RequirementsEmployees with a disability, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, push, and pull throughout the workday.Ability to lift, transport, load, unload, and maneuver portable ultrasound equipment safely.Ability to assist with patient positioning and move equipment in confined healthcare environments.Ability to transport equipment up and down stairs when elevators are unavailable.Ability to sit and safely operate a motor vehicle for extended periods while traveling between client locations.Travel RequirementsTravel is an essential function of this position.Frequent travel to healthcare facilities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and patient residences is required.Must be physically and medically capable of safely operating a company vehicle throughout the workday.Must safely operate company vehicles and transport portable diagnostic equipment.This document is intended to provide general guidelines regarding job expectations and responsibilities and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, skills, or abilities required for the position.
