This position provides mechanical process engineering services for designated SMC facilities.
Responsible for evaluating and developing safe reliable and productive processes installed on time and within budget, as well as recognizing inefficiency in existing processes and implementing improvements.
Responsible for planning and design of facilities and processes as well as providing technical support for maintaining and repair of existing.
Develops cost estimates and implementation schedules for assigned projects.
Prepares Safety Heath and Environmental evaluation and fail safe analyses for capital requests.
Responsible for purchase and managing of materials and labor for installation of approved projects, including preparation of specifications and bid packages.
Responsible for project supervision during installation and startup of approved projects.
Responsible for project follow-up including recording of drawings and manuals, spare part recommendations, operator/maintenance training, and project post audit.
BS / BA in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of relevant work experience
Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.

• Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
• Understanding of present industrial practices and equipment.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling
• Knowledge of material selection
• Knowledge of machine shop technology and practices
• Knowledge / experience with energy efficiency initiatives
• Good working experience / knowledge of stresses and strains as related to steel structures
• Good mechanical knowledge of industrial systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, water cooling systems, industrial cooling towers, steam systems
• Knowledge of risk analysis and machine safety best practices and standards such as ANSI B11.Strong project management skills, including budget management, Gantt charts, vendor management. PMP certification is preferred.

Use of technical library data and CAD repositories.
Ability to understand and apply technical specifications such as Quality Systems manuals, industry specific specifications.
Technical writing skills: Physical Demands - Frequently moves about the production facilities. Must be able to detect unsafe conditions from long distances. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Environment - The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions. Relocation

Relocation is authorized for this position.
