Schedule: Saturday (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM) & Tuesday (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM) Position Summary
The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and regulatory compliance of the dispensary premises, staff, clients, and products. This role includes monitoring entrances and exits, conducting patrols, deterring theft or unauthorized access, and responding to incidents in accordance with company policy and applicable state cannabis regulations.
Officers must maintain a high standard of professionalism, discretion, and customer service in a retail healthcare environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide a visible, unarmed deterrent at entrances and other high-risk areas
Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized individuals are permitted entry
Conduct interior and exterior patrols of the premises, including storage areas, employee entrances, and customer waiting areas
Observe and report suspicious activity, security threats, or non-compliance with company or state regulations
Prevent and respond to incidents involving theft, trespassing, loitering, or disorderly conduct
Monitor security cameras, alarms, and access control systems as assigned
Conduct ID verification, bag checks, or screening as required by dispensary policy
Escort staff during cash handling procedures, product deliveries, or closing operations
Respond to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, or threats to safety; contact law enforcement or EMS as needed
Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift hand-off notes
Enforce state cannabis regulations, safety policies, and company code of conduct with professionalism and consistency
Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older (per cannabis regulatory requirements)
• Valid BSIS Guard Card (Required)
• High school diploma or GED required; additional training or military/law enforcement experience preferred
• 1+ years of security experience in retail, high-risk environments, or cannabis facilities preferred
• Clean criminal background and ability to pass federal and state background checks
• Strong observational skills and situational awareness
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and work flexible shifts (including evenings, weekends, and holidays)
• Must adhere to cannabis compliance standards and confidentiality protocols

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
Manual dexterity to operate radios and other assigned equipment
Visual and auditory awareness for monitoring surroundings
Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift

Familiarity with surveillance and access control systems
Work Environment
Officers work in a retail healthcare setting, interacting with employees, licensed vendors, and verified clients. High-value inventory and cash handling require constant awareness and professionalism. Officers must remain neutral, respectful, and focused on both safety and customer experience.
