Registered Nurse Physician Care

The registered nurse will perform direct patient/resident care and delegation to patient care technicians in providing care and comfort to the patients. Knowledge and compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and guidelines relating to facility care will be maintained. This position has basic medical/surgical knowledge in order to care for general surgical and orthopedic surgical patients.
30%) * Regularly assesses patients/clients needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician authorized plan of care, and accepted standards of nursing practice.

• 30%) * Provides direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, call lights, assisting with transfers, responding to alarms, etc.
• 20%) * Evaluates effectiveness of treatment plan and makes suggestions or participates in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information to improve patient care.
• 10%) * Processes physician/provider orders and performs physician ordered care accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and reports pertinent data to the physician, including pertinent clinical information.

Assess learning needs considering readiness, ability, preferences, and cultural / spiritual variables.
Participates in care conferences as assigned.

Coordinates care provided by patient care technicians.

Demonstrates a general ability to manage assignments and perform routine duties on the unit.

Instructs other team members when appropriate, explaining goals and rationale for individualized care.

Implements clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Documents in an accurate, clear, and concise way and includes pertinent clinical data.

Participates in regulatory surveys.

Participates in the performance improvement activities.

Provides a safe and secure environment for patient care.

Demonstrates understanding of role in emergency preparedness procedures.
Inserts cantor tubes, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes per physician order, following proper procedure.
Inserts and provides care for IV's.

Provides routine care and instruction of Suprapubic (SP) catheters and surgical drains following physician order.

Provides proper care for drains and removal of same.

Removes sutures and skin clips, provides routine ostomy care and irrigates and packs wounds, following physician order, procedure and care plan.

Does accurate Central Venous Pressure (CVP) reading, according to physician order and following proper procedure.

Provides routine care of gastrostomy/jejunostomy tubes according to procedure and physician orders.

Assists in heparin therapy protocol per procedures.

Applies basic traction, splints, braces, and Continuous Passive motion (CPM) machines following procedure and physician order.

Cuts and trims cast, removes wound drains following physician order and procedure.

Credential: DIMC: Dysrhythmia Interpretation Man
Employees hired after January 1, 2025, are required to take, and pass Telemetry Monitoring and management class (DIMC) within 12 months of hire or transfer.
Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.

Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred.
