Job Responsibilities

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.
Perform as a team member responsible for painting and preservation of the ships, buildings and piers owned by Patriots Point Development Authority. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Perform semi-skilled procedures including the ability to properly prepare the various surfaces for painting and utilizing equipment such as scrapers, chipping hammers, sanders, wire brushes, scalers, deck crawlers and needle guns.
Safely and properly uses paintbrush techniques, rollers and various spray equipment in the application of primers and finish coats. Perform preservation work and maintenance which includes high, vertical surfaces and other remote areas using appropriate scaffolding when required. Safely and properly disposes of waste products generated during painting operations IA W with PPDA policies and procedures.
Adheres to all safety and environmental regulations as required by the Agency.
Employee may be required to work after normal working hours, on weekends, holidays, emergencies and/or special events. Employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned to accomplish the mission of the Agency.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A valid South Carolina driver's license and previous trade experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Knowledge of techniques needed and skills necessary to properly utilize equipment used in the performance of duties as a semi-skilled painter. Ability to serve as crew leader; assign tasks to workers and allocate materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks. Knowledge of safety practices and regulations. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used as a painter. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Skill in making emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work. Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision. Position requires rigorous physical activity. Must be capable of climbing vertical ladders, lifting reasonable amounts of weight normally encountered in the performance of their duties. as well as knowing when to ask for assistance when the weight is too heavy to lift, and walking long distances in a workday. Must be motivated to perform high-quality work.
