Human Resources Manager - Make an Impact Beyond the Workplace
We are partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and transform its HR function during a pivotal period of organizational growth and change. This is an exceptional opportunity for an HR professional who is passionate about helping their community, supporting employees at all levels, and creating a workplace culture where people can thrive. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building processes, creating structure, solving complex employee issues, and wearing multiple hats while serving as the organization’s primary HR leader.

The Human Resources Manager will oversee all aspects of Human Resources while helping the organization strengthen its people strategy, improve retention, create structure, and support a diverse workforce. This position requires someone who is equally comfortable developing HR strategy and rolling up their sleeves to manage day-to-day HR responsibilities. The workforce includes both professional staff and industrial/operations employees, requiring a leader who can successfully support individuals across multiple functions and work environments. Lead all HR functions including employee relations, recruiting, retention, benefits, compliance, and workforce planning
Build structure and consistency across HR programs and processes
Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates
Create scalable HR systems and processes that support future expansion
Talent Acquisition & Retention
Develop recruiting strategies to attract high-quality talent
Improve employee retention through engagement and development initiatives
Support onboarding, orientation, and training programs
Employee Relations & Culture
Serve as the primary resource for employee relations matters
Lead conflict resolution, investigations, corrective actions, and performance management discussions
Coach managers on employee issues and best HR practices
Support both office-based professionals and industrial workforce employees
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
Manage leave administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and related programs
Monitor HR metrics and identify opportunities for improvementMaintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
Strong employee relations and conflict resolution experience
Experience creating and implementing HR policies and procedures
Proven ability to reduce turnover and improve employee engagement
Comfortable operating as a one-person HR department
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
