Registered Nurse (RN)- Telemetry, ICU, or Emergency Room

The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible for overseeing any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan.

Assessment – identification, gathering, and organization of subjective and objective data about the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural aspects.

Planning – identification of actual or potential problems, desired outcomes, and documentation of a plan of care.

Intervention – specific interventions or orders implemented consistent with the plan and medical treatment.

Evaluation – determining effectiveness of interventions, documenting outcomes, and revising the plan as needed.

Additional patient needs: identification and prioritization of problems relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational and social status.

Laboratory Services – limited laboratory services including specimen collection, processing, quality control, and reporting of results.

The Registered Nurse actively supports performance improvement initiatives and provides leadership to other members of the patient care team. Through participation in educational activities, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey (or multi‑state license). Valid NJ Driver's License required for all employees in Adult and Child Partial Programs.

Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; training and skill required within 30–60 days.

Emergency Room (City) – 2–4 years medical/surgical, 2 years ER. Emergency Room (Mainland) – 2–4 years medical/surgical, 2 years ER. Labor and Delivery – 2–4 years experience. Neonatal ICU/Intermediate Care – 2–4 years NICU experience. Mother/Baby Unit (OB) – 2–4 years experience. OB certification required.

Operating Room – Minimum 1 year medical/surgical desired; Critical Care (ICU) – 2–4 years medical/surgical, 1–2 years critical care. Medical/Surgical – 1–2 years experience preferred. Dialysis – 1–2 years medical/surgical and dialysis. Psychiatry – 1–2 years experience preferred.

Radiology – 2–4 years medical/surgical preferred; Trauma ICU – 1 year trauma experience required, 2 years preferred. Oncology – 1–2 years medical/surgical, chemotherapy experience preferred. Endoscopy – 2 years medical/surgical, 1–2 years endoscopy, telemetry and critical care preferred. Cardiac Diagnostic – 1–2 years medical/surgical, 1–2 years critical care. Cardiovascular ICU (CVU) – 2–4 years critical care preferred. Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU) – 2–5 years telemetry preferred. Continuous telemetry – 1–2 years medical/surgical. Radiation Oncology – 1–3 years oncology experience preferred. Therapeutic Services – 1–3 years oncology. PACU/SDS – 1–3 years critical care or PACU. Pre‑Admission Testing – 1–3 years medical/surgical.

Acute Partial/Child Adolescent – 1 year behavioral health. Bloodless Surgery – 1–2 years medical/surgical.

Wound Care Outpatient – 1–2 years medical/surgical.

Wound Care & HBO Training – required within 1 year. Hammonton Satellite ED – 2–4 years medical/surgical. Structural Heart – 2–3 years cardiology.

Phlebotomy, EKG, IV insertion.

Performance Expectations

Potential exposure to hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood‑borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.

50–100 pounds with assistance occasionally.

Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment.

Unit Populations Served

Bariatric Morbid obese adults with comorbid illnesses (cardiovascular, metabolic, renal, pulmonary).

Cath Lab: cardiac/vascular conditions (CAD, carotid stenosis, renal stenosis, PVD).

Critical Care: acute medical/surgical care of skeletal, renal, cardiovascular conditions (AMI, CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, shock, renal failure).

Behavioral Health: bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, psychosis.

Dialysis: acute or chronic renal failure or chronic renal disease.

Endoscopy: chronic pain management, endoscopic procedures for cardiovascular, GI, pulmonary conditions.

Emergency Department: triage for all age groups and conditions (coronary, pulmonary, neuro, skeletal, GI).

Intermediate Care: post‑surgical neuro, GI, GU/GYN, peripheral vascular, orthopedic.

Medical/Surgical: orthopedic, neural, GI, GU/GYN, renal, metabolic, pulmonary.

Telemetry/Medical/Surgical: cardiac/cardiovascular, neuro, GI conditions.

Systemic Stroke: cardiac/cardiovascular, neuro, renal, GI conditions.

Wound Care: ostomy diversion, wound management, pressure sore/ulcer.

Structural Heart: adults with structural heart disease and comorbidities (CAD, PAD, Heart Failure, Lung disease, Obesity, Diabetes, Arrhythmias).

This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
