Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking experienced Critical Care Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our dynamic team. Ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in critical care settings, with an emphasis on providing high-quality patient care.Unit Information12-bed CVICU8-bed COVID ICU8-bed Medical Surgical ICU16-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (up to 20 with double occupancy rooms)Nurse to Patient RatiosThe nursing ratio will be:ICU: 1:1-2 based on patient acuity/staffing levelsPCU: 1:3-4Required CertificationsBLS (Basic Life Support)ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)Common Diagnoses and Patient TypesCOPD, DKA, SepsisPost-surgical patients including open-heartPatients requiring advanced monitoring (EVD, VAD, IABP)Management of various critical care scenariosRequired Skills and ExperienceProven experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRTProficiency in EKG reading and interpretationAbility to wean and troubleshoot ventilatorsExperience across all care areas, including ICU and PCUCharge Nurse and House Supervisor ResponsibilitiesCharge nurses manage patient assignments primarily as a last resort and oversee rapid response and code blue scenarios. House supervisors are available 24/7 to support staffing and operations.Shift and SchedulingShifts: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AMSchedules are created 4 weeks in advance, with opportunities for some self-schedulingWeekend requirement: 4 shifts per pay periodHoliday requirement: 1 winter holiday shift and one holiday eve shiftOrientation and TrainingOrientation includes an 8-hour general hospital orientation and two 12-hour shifts on the unit with experienced preceptors and buddies for support.Essential Equipment & MonitoringNurses are expected to be familiar with and proficient in using critical care equipment, including:Ventilators, BiPAP, CPAPGlidescopes for intubationLocationOpportunities available in multiple locations within the region, including significant urban centers.Cancellation PolicyThe cancellation policy allows for four shifts per contract; reduced to three shifts for contracts under 13 weeks.Charting SystemThe charting system utilized is Cerner.Division and Trauma LevelThis role falls under the acute care division with a comprehensive trauma care level.
