Grant and Science Writer
Stanford University
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a Scientific Grant Writer (Writer 2) to work under the general direction of Dr. Amanatullah (PI). This role will support the development, editing, and submission of manuscripts and grant proposals to federal and non-federal funding agencies.
The Amanatullah laboratory is the Stanford translational program defining dormant periprosthetic joint infection (a third clinical state of orthopaedic implant infection that current diagnostic criteria miss) through single-cell transcriptomics, proximity-extension synovial proteomics, multiplexed spatial proteomics, plasma prophage cell-free DNA, and host-directed therapeutic candidates drawn from the cancer-immunotherapy literature. The successful candidate will (i) draft and submit NIH R01, R21, U01, and program project grants; (ii) draft and submit Department of Defense PRORP (ARA, CTRA, CTA) and VA Merit Review applications; (iii) draft and submit AAOS Board of Specialty Societies, OREF, AAHKS, Knee Society, Hip Society, MSIS, and OTA applications; (iv) build and maintain the laboratory's Repurposing Library of aim narratives, figures, references, biosketches, and submission-ready components; (v) operate the Stanford Research Management Group interface so the PI's time stays on science.
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual who can effectively manage multiple priorities and collaborate within a team environment. The successful candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to engage effectively with a diverse academic and medical community.
The ideal candidate thrives in a team-oriented setting while also demonstrating the ability to work independently, manage responsibilities with minimal supervision, and take initiative proactively. Candidates with prior funded R01 applications and demonstrated repurposing capacity will be prioritized. This is a 1-year Fixed Term position.
