We're hiring a licensed pharmacist for a contract Director of Pharmacy / Pharmacist in Charge position at a behavioral hospital in Peoria, IL. You will use clinical and operational expertise to open and establish pharmacy services, ensure safe medication distribution, manage Omnicell automation setup, approve orders, and participate in P&T activities. Training for HCS and Omnicell will be provided. Active Illinois Pharmacist license required.

Experience as a Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacist in Charge preferred.

Experience with HCS order entry system preferred.

Experience setting up or opening a new pharmacy preferred.

Must be able to complete required site-specific credentials including background check, drug screen, HIPAA training, TB test, CPS Code of Conduct, and any additional credentials required by the facility.

Local candidates preferred. Candidate willingness to discuss travel arrangements will be considered.

Experience working without pharmacy technician support preferred.

Shift hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

On-call responsibilities required after each shift; weekend on-call coverage possible.

Will function as the working Director of Pharmacy and will be responsible for pharmacy opening tasks, Omnicell stocking, and pharmacy setup activities.

You will lead pharmacy services at a new behavioral health hospital with 100 licensed beds. This role impacts quality of care by establishing safe medication distribution, automation workflows, and clinical governance through P&T oversight. Your work will support the care team and patients in a facility starting operations.

The city sits along the Illinois River and is approximately a short drive from state parks such as Jubilee College State Park, providing outdoor recreation and hiking within 30–60 minutes. Peoria International Airport provides regional flights for easy travel. The area includes cultural attractions such as museums, local dining districts, and seasonal festivals, supporting an urban-suburban lifestyle with accessible amenities and recreational options.
