Registered Nurse Medical / Surgical

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical team on a high acuity floor specializing in Trauma Surgery. This role requires flexibility in working various shifts and an ability to manage a diverse patient population. The RN will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to patients with surgical needs, including trauma and specialized cases such as gunshot wounds and spinal injuries (quadriplegic and paraplegic patients).

Work collaboratively with Nursing Support Techs to ensure high-quality patient support.

Manage a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1.

Conduct phlebotomy as needed, with phlebotomists available on site.

Engage with unit secretaries to facilitate smooth operations during night shifts.

Coordinate with Emergency Department nurses and the admitting unit to ensure comprehensive nurse handoffs.

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical or Trauma nursing specialty.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Proficient in using EPIC electronic health record systems.

Exemplary communication and teamwork skills.

This position is based on a high acuity floor where registered nurses play a pivotal role in patient recovery and overall health management. Nurses are expected to adapt to dynamic environments and respond promptly to patient needs.
