Part-time Theater Host

Host Usher, Guest Services As L.A.'s premier performing arts destination, The Music Center convenes artists, communities and ideas with the goal of deepening the cultural lives of every resident in Los Angeles County. The non-profit arts organization with an annual operating budget for $80 million has three divisions: TMC Arts, TMC Ops and TMC Business Services. TMC Arts, The Music Center's programming engine, provides year-round programming inside The Music Center's four theatres, which include Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum; on Jerry Moss Plaza; outside at Gloria Molina Grand Park, a 12-acre adjacent green space; and in schools and neighborhoods all over Los Angeles County.

Position Summary Reporting to the Guest Services Manager, Theatre Ushers welcome, assist guests in theater auditoriums, lecture halls and outdoor spaces. The Guest Services Department ensures the safety and enjoyment of The Music Center guest experience.

Duties & Responsibilities To Include, But Not Limited To: Greet and assist guests in theater auditoriums and lecture halls in outdoor spaces

Assist with operations in the Founders Rooms and other special events.

Answer guest inquiries accurately and politely.

Scan or tear tickets at theater entrances.

Direct paths of travel for guests attending events.

Inspect theaters for safety hazards and report concerns.

Operate 2-way radios for communication.

Place signage, stanchions, and program carts as needed.

Assist other departments when directed by a supervisor.

Respond to customer service issues with sensitivity and care.

Assist senior individuals or individuals with disabilities, including escorting to seats.

Perform general duties as assigned.

Maintain clean uniforms and adhere to grooming standards.

Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.

Help maintain a clean and safe workplace environment for employees and guests.

Required Skills Prior customer service experience preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong guest service mentality: friendly, respectful, and courteous.

Multi-lingual capabilities welcomed.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements This role may involve a mix of sitting, walking, and occasional standing. Some tasks may require light bending, reaching, or light lifting. The position also involves frequent use of hands for typing and other tasks. Clear vision, hearing, and verbal communication are important to perform essential job functions.

Schedule This is a part-time position. Work hours will vary based on schedules and operational needs and may range from approximately 5 to 25 hours per week. Days and times worked will also vary depending on current and upcoming events.

Hourly Pay Rate: $18.12. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
