Staff Restoration Ecologist

Verdantas is seeking a Staff Ecologist II for Fresno, CA.
We provide consulting services to public, private, and non‑profit clients in California and across the United States. Our team supports projects from early planning and design through construction and long‑term environmental monitoring. This role offers hands‑on learning opportunities while supporting real‑world projects from start to finish.

What You’ll Do:

Independently conduct and lead ecological surveys, including wetland delineations, biological resource assessments, and habitat restoration evaluations

Prepare and contribute to technical sections of environmental impact assessments, NEPA documents, and permit applications

Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients on assigned projects

Manage field crews during site investigations and contribute to quality review of junior staff work products

Support proposal development and scope‑of‑work preparation

Apply advanced ecological expertise to evaluate field and laboratory data and identify trends, relationships, and environmental implications

Clearly communicate technical findings to clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field

3-6 years of relevant or progressive experience in ecological consulting, environmental assessment, or natural resource management

Professional certifications such as Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or Certified Wildlife Biologist preferred

Experience with wildlife ecology and species‑specific habitat analysis

Proficiency in riparian ecology and stream and wetland assessment methods

Understanding of landscape ecology principles as applied to land‑use impact analysis

Knowledge of soil biology and soil classification for environmental characterization

Working knowledge of invertebrate zoology related to bioassessment

Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary Range:
$32 - $36
