In this role, you'll be responsible for accurately selecting the best quality groceries across all departments, from fresh produce and meat to pantry staples, ensuring every order is fulfilled with care and precision. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality directly impact how customers experience Hy-Vee online.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer warmly and assisting them with their needs throughout the storeAccurately select groceries ordered online by customers, choosing the highest quality produce, meat, and other fresh productsSelect, scan, and bag items from all temperature zonesEnsure products maintain proper temperature throughout the entire fulfillment processPlace gathered orders in storage at the proper temperature and retrieve them promptly prior to the customer's arrivalCart orders to and place them in the holding area for customer pickupLift, carry, and load groceries into customer vehiclesTender customer orders through POS and process credit card paymentsSubstitute products for customers upon request or when items are unavailableContinually monitor incoming online orders to ensure prompt, on-time fulfillmentAnswer phones and emails promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customersFollow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelinesPitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come upYour SkillsTo be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to:Bring commitment to Hy-Vee's mission and a genuine passion for delivering an outstanding customer experienceSelect the highest quality products with a strong eye for freshness and accuracy across all departmentsCommunicate clearly and professionally with customers and store personnel in a friendly, approachable mannerStay organized and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentIdentify problems and develop practical solutions, including making product substitutions on the flyWork independently and complete daily workloads with limited supervisionReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home; Online Shopping Department ManagerEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPhysical RequirementsFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-moving role with constant pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks throughout your shift. You'll work primarily in a retail store setting and may be exposed to dust, noise, temperature extremes, moving equipment hazards, and electrical equipment. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
