The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its ministry is motivated by the love for God. They are responsible for the overall condition and operation of our kitchen and dining room. Duties include keeping a professional image through face-to-face, phone, and email interactions and communication with volunteers and meal providers.

Prepare the dining room for the weeknight meal program

Greet volunteers who provide and serve the meals

Assist with the set-up, serving, and cleanup as requested by the lead meal provider

Temperature check, weigh and log food donations

Maintain hard copy and electronic filing system as needed for clients and volunteers

Maintain Health Department Regulations

Nightly walk-through kitchen to dump out any food in refrigerators

Empty trashcans and recycle receptacles as needed

Keep the area, inside and outside of the Kitchen & Dining Room, clean and orderly. Eliminate any safety hazards.

Schedule and communicate with Meal Program Service Providers and Volunteers as needed through email, phone calls, text messages, and mail.

Attend staff meetings, trainings, and conferences as recommended and approved by the Commanding Officer

Provide input to the budget process for the social service department and keep expenditures within approved budgetary line items.

Follow all fiscal and financial policies and procedures the Salvation Army Eastside Corps implements.

If an item is too heavy, get help

When working with volunteers, clear communication and tactful supervision are required

All vandalism or building damage must be reported to the Supervisor or Commanding Officer

Any injuries must be reported immediately to the Supervisor or Commanding Officer

High school graduate preferred

Ability to work with limited or no supervision

Ability to speak English fluently to communicate with volunteers and clients

Ability to work within the organization and carry out its policies and procedures

Must pass The Salvation Army‘s in-house driving test and Motor vehicles Records check
