Sleep Lab Technician

The Sleep Tech performs independently and with self-initiative under indirect supervision. They are required to perform a variety of duties within their realm of knowledge/training and at a technical level maintaining a high standard of patient care and confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Consistent attendance is required to ensure that the client facilities' needs and patient needs are met.
• Comply with all the facilities' policies, procedures and practices.
• Sleep Tech is expected to practice safe procedures and always adhere to safety measures.
• Performing ordered sleep study per department policy and procedure.
• Communicating with physicians as needed with regards to testing.
• Verifying identity of patient prior to performing exam.
• Displaying accountability for tasks assigned to them.
• Participating in educational opportunities in use of new equipment and/or procedures.
• Completion of necessary paperwork and/or computer functions.
• Keeping area clean, neat, safe and stocked with needed supplies.
• Assisting in all areas of the department as needed.
• Participating in Quality Improvement.
• Displaying proficiency in operation of equipment.
• Explains procedure and processes to patient

Required Qualifications

Certified Polysomnographic Technician preferred but not required.

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist preferred but not required.
