Facility Maintenance/Custodian NEEDED ASAP!

Facilities CustodianThe Facilities Custodian is responsible for ensuring that office, material equipment, and environments are safe, clean, and appropriately maintained. Ensure the required inspections, maintenance, and repairs are conducted in compliance with Federal, State, and Local Law and the Head Start Performance Standards. Will also be responsible for conducting safety daily inspections indoors and outdoors and upcoming regular inventory of facility supplies.Primary duties and essential functions include:Work with Center Service Manager to develop a routine maintenance schedule and check off list of site maintenance requirements.Replenish all tissue and paper towel dispensers throughout the center.Complete daily sanitation of all center toilet facilities.Empty and sanitize all center trash containers from classrooms, office, and kitchen, as per licensing requirements.Clean all inside windows and outside windows.Clean inside and outside of front entry door windows.Sweep, wet mops, and/or vacuums all center floors.Assist in cleaning and removal of body fluids as needed.Strip and/or wax all hard surface floors twice per season, or as needed.Steam clean all carpet areas prior to school opening and twice during program year, and/or as needed.Submit order supply lists of all custodian supplies needed to the Center Service Manager or designee.Dust and/or remove cobwebs from all vertical and horizontal surfaces.Replace light bulbs as needed.Assist in keeping outside Center grounds picked up and free of trash.Assist with the maintenance of equipment located inside and/or outside, as well as playground and outside toys.Responsible for minor repairs at center (within capability).Assist with maintenance of facility.Participate in staff meetings and center-based staff and parent activities as needed.Attend in-service, Pre-Service and trainings as required.Communicate to Center Office Manager/Center Service Manager any facility concerns related to safety and maintenance that could affect the compliance standards of the program.Maintain confidentiality in administrative and programmatic matters.Operate a company or personal vehicle for donation and supply pick-ups, maintenance and facility needs, and other related duties.Perform other duties as requested by immediate supervisor necessary to carry out the administrative/programmatic activities necessary to fulfill the goals and objectives of CPLC ECD.Competencies include:Strong verbal and written communication skillsCritical thinking and problem-solvingCollaboration and teamworkProfessionalism, ethics, and reliabilityAdaptability, responsiveness, and time managementCustomer and client service orientationAttention to detail, quality and accuracySafety awareness and risk preventionFacility maintenance, custodial and sanitation practicesInventory and supply managementSafety inspections and hazard identificationEquipment operation and maintenanceRegulatory compliance and documentationMinimum qualifications include:High School/GED and 6 months of custodial experience required.Knowledge of maintenance, inventory, and purchasing supplies.This position requires driving on behalf of the company. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, meet the company’s motor vehicle record (MVR) standards, meet company’s insurance eligibility, and comply with all state and federal driving requirements. Ongoing employment is contingent upon maintaining an acceptable driving record.Experience and commitment to working with multiethnic, multicultural, low-income populations.Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.Proven ability to follow-up and meet deadlines.Excellent initiative, flexibility, and stress-management handling the demands of facilities maintenance.Ability to multi-task, prioritize, balance the many responsibilities, and address the various issues arise in childcare facilities throughout the day.Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, especially Microsoft teams).Pre-employment requirements include:Employment in this position at is contingent upon successful completion of all required pre-employment screenings and subject to credentialing checks to maintain compliance with licensing and contractual requirements for both Texas and New Mexico centers.Fingerprint-based background check in accordance with federal, state, and contract requirements, including level one fingerprint clearance.Child Abuse and Neglect Registry Check (CPS check) as required for roles working with vulnerable populations.Criminal history background check meeting applicable state, federal, licensing, or program standards.Pre-employment medical clearance, which may include a physical exam, TB test or Chest X-ray to confirm ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Drug screening in compliance with company policy and applicable state law.Required immunizations or proof of vaccination, including Tdap, if mandated by state regulations, licensing bodies, or program requirements.Candidates may also be required to complete additional screenings or provide documentation as necessary to comply with funding, licensing, contractual, or regulatory obligations.Physical demands and typical working conditions:This position requires regular physical activity in an early childhood education environment.Employees must be able to move throughout buildings, classrooms, restrooms, playgrounds, storage areas, and outdoor grounds to perform cleaning, maintenance, inspection, and inventory duties.Essential functions may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders or step stools, and operating custodial tools and equipment.The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, furniture, and materials weighing up to 75 pounds.Employees must be able to safely use cleaning products, maintenance equipment, and standard office technology as required.Effective communication and the ability to accurately exchange verbal, written, and electronic information are required.Operating a company or personal vehicle for donation and supply pick-ups, maintenance, and various related duties is needed.Work is performed in classrooms, offices, kitchens, restrooms, playgrounds, storage areas, and outdoor program environments.The position requires regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, dirt, odors, bodily fluids, and varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions.Employees may be exposed to varying light and noise levels associated with children, classroom activities, and facility operations.Employees are expected to follow all health and safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment when required, maintain professional conduct, protect confidential information, and comply with agency policies, licensing requirements, and program standards.Driving may be required for supply pick-ups, maintenance center needs, training, meetings, and other program-related activities.Employees who operate a vehicle for business purposes must maintain a valid driver’s license and required insurance coverage.Local, interstate and intrastate travel to Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., its affiliates and/or subsidiaries, may be necessary to successfully fulfill the duties of this position. Technology will be utilized to minimize travel whenever feasible.
