Head of Housekeeping

We’re looking for a uniquely qualified hospitality leader to be our Executive Housekeeper. The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for directing and administering all Housekeeping operations to ensure the overall cleanliness and product quality of the hotel, and to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. This position includes oversight of the Laundry Department and works closely with the maintenance team.

Essential Functions Ensure and maintain cleanliness, service and product quality standards for guest rooms, public spaces, offices, banquet/meeting/conference rooms in accordance with local and company health, sanitation and safety standards.
Lead, direct and administer all Housekeeping operations, including systems use, budgeting and forecasting, inventory control, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement, and meeting participation and facilitation.
Monitor and develop team member performance, including supervision, professional development, scheduling, coaching, counseling, performance evaluation, and recognition and rewards.
Recruit, interview and train team members.
Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies, provide comprehensive training for team members, and ensure proper labeling of hazardous supplies in compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations.
Create and post weekly schedule for Housekeeping and Laundry team members.
Physically check rooms made ready by Room Attendants to confirm readiness for guest check‑in and update in the computer.
Clean/prepare rooms when occupancy increases or team member callouts occur (as needed).
Work closely with the Front Office team to ensure guest room satisfaction.
Oversee Laundry operations.
Work with maintenance to maintain operational upkeep of Laundry equipment.
Ensure Housekeeping and Laundry supply inventory are ordered and properly stored.
Properly report, log, and complete required documents for all lost and found items.
Ensure all storage areas are locked and that all housekeepers’ sheets and executive housekeeper sheet are turned in to the front desk before leaving.
Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of public areas of the hotel.
Ensure excellence in hotel and guest room cleanliness.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have prior experience in a supervisor or manager role.
Previous hotel experience preferred.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Basic mathematical skills.
Ability to apply basic principles and techniques of supervision.
Ability to plan and organize the activities of others.
Ability to get ideas accepted and guide a group or individual to accomplish a task.
Ability to modify leadership style and management approach to reach goals.
Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications.
Ability to effectively handle conflict in a team environment.
Physical Demands Stand, walk, use arms, hands, and legs repetitively; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; climb or balance; push a cart weighing up to 60 pounds.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Must have effective close, distance, and color vision.
Work environment often high stress and mentally demanding.
Qualification Standards Dependable and productive.
High school education or equivalent required; some college preferred.
Minimum six (6) months related experience or training preferred.
Ability to effectively lead a team of 15 or more employees.
