Custodial Assistant (Multiple Positions)
Location City College of New York - The main campus located on 37 acres in Harlem, New York City.
Responsibilities Sweeps, damp mops, and wet mops office floors, toilets, corridors, lobbies, and other assigned floor areas.
Cleans washbasins and other toilet room facilities.
waxes and polishes floors.
Vacuums and cleans rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture.
Dusts and polishes furniture and metal work.
May occasionally operate an elevator, move furniture, or act as watch person.
Reports broken equipment.
Observes safety and environmental health precautions as directed.
Puts up safety warnings and/or stanchions for wet floors or other areas for limited access during cleaning.
Cleans small kitchens and/or coffee service areas.
Custodial Assistants also provide services for events on campus, covering smaller student events and larger private events, and support essential staff for emergencies such as flood coverage and snow removal.
Qualifications There are no formal education or experience requirements. Candidates must meet the medical and physical requirements established by University management.
